Cherries! I prefer my cherries with sugar between two flaky crusts, or in the form of a gummy candy. Growing up, I never ate cherries, the fruit. Now I have a better appreciation of their actual beauty! Cherries are such beautifully shaped fruits and actually are yummy to eat out of a bag…or a jelly jar (Ok, they would be better in this jar with sugar!)

Howard Johnson's

HoJos

The orange roof. Some artist designed Hojos fully aware of how wonderful that roof would look against a blue sky! Genius! Howard Johnson, thank you! You gave us a wonderful hotel, orange sherbet and a restaurant that made the BEST cheeseburgers. I feel for today’s youth, they don’t get to fully appreciate the whole experience. I imagine being on vacation, and pulling into a Howard Johnson’s for dinner. Life just got a little better!

Those People…in the Hacker!

Seeing an old wooden boat empty is one thing, but seeing it filled with people riding on top of the water is something totally different. I become instantly jealous when I see “those people” lucky enough to be riding in one, like “jet-setters” of the Adirondacks. Most folks aren’t so lucky, but those people…..!

Morning

Waking up in the summer just sort of happens. No alarm clocks, no one yelling “GET UP”. Sleeping with white sheets and a chenille bedspread, with the window open, and the sheer curtain gently blowing is a childhood memory I wish I had. Instead, I decided to paint it for myself, and for you! Savor the morning. Morning.JPG

Travers, 6″ x 6″ Oil on Gesso Board

As a kid, I remember my Mom going to Saratoga Race Track with her girlfriends every summer. After dousing herself with Aqua Net and Jean Nate, she would pile in a gal pal’s car, and off they went, hats firmly secured! I can’t imagine them actually knowing anything about racing to make a “logical” bet…(think Lucille Ball), rather, I am sure they bet based on the horses names. Granted, Saratoga Race Track packs thousands to place bets each summer, but really, the best part of Saratoga is the people. And so I better get spraying my Aqua-Net…it’s off to the races!
